Skills Center / Running Start

High school level juniors and seniors can get a head start on their careers and college preparation by attending the Spokane Skills Center.

Medical Lake High School students must be on track to graduate in order to access the Spokane Skills Center. Students can earn graduation requirements (i.e. Career/Tech Education) by taking classes at the Spokane Skills Center. Students must meet with their counselor to get the application form and check their graduation status.

Students should ideally be sending in their application in the early Spring (for entrance the following Fall) for the best chance to get their first choice program. There are always wait lists for popular programs like Culinary Arts & Hospitality, Medical Careers, Cosmetology, Veterinary Careers, and Dental Careers.

Students are gone the first three (3) periods at MLHS and come back at the start of 4th period. Students must have their own transportation to the MLHS bus loop to catch the Skills Center bus at 7 AM daily.
