Advanced Placement and Honors Classes
at Medical Lake High Schoolbook

AP is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from both secondary schools and higher education. Since 1955, the AP Program has enabled millions of students to take college-level courses and exams, and to earn college credit or placement while still in high school.

Advance Placement Class Application

Advance Placement (AP) courses are becoming more competitive and desirable at Medical Lake High School. While we would like to be able to offer enough seats for any student interested in taking an AP course, we are unable to do so at this time and therefore are using a short application and contract to select participants. These applications will be used when there are over 30 applicants wanting the same course. The AP contract signed by the student and parent will be upheld for anyone who takes an advance placement course. Please make sure and read the contract carefully as it outlines the standards and expectations for students enrolled in AP courses.
Applications for each AP course are available on the counseling center website. Students are asked to respond in 1-3 paragraphs explaining why they want to participate in the advance placement course they are applying for. Applications and contracts are mandatory before students can be enrolled in the course. If there are more than 30 applicants for an advance placement course, applications will be reviewed by a panel of administrators, counselors and AP teachers to select candidates.
Please complete one contract and an application for each AP class.
